FIBER SPEED GUIDE

What is a good fiber internet speed?

Fiber internet speed should be evaluated with both download and upload results. A fiber plan often provides high upstream capacity as well as fast downloads, but the measured result can still be limited by Wi-Fi, the device, browser processing, Ethernet port speed or network congestion.

Run the fiber speed test on a wired connection when possible, pause large transfers and repeat the measurement at different times. Compare the result with the speed promised by your plan, then use the advertised speed check to calculate the delivered percentage.

A single result is a snapshot, not proof of typical service. If throughput looks normal but calls or games are unstable, inspect latency, jitter and packet loss with the network quality test. For connections beyond the 5 Gbps scale, use the 10 Gbps speed test.

Designed for multi-gigabit connectionsLonger measurement phases provide stable results on very fast fiber links.
